ROLE: Art Direction CLIENT | PROJECT: This global social media campaign was created for Samsung Mobile to promote a new line of mobile phones. The objective was to show how Samsung Mobile uniquely provides consumers with meaningful innovations that facilitate ‘wow’ experiences. So we created an online community challenge (actually three challenges) that called for users to use both their mobile phones and their creativity. Basically, we got people from around the world collaborating together to create content inspired by Samsung’s mobile innovations. The Samsung Blue Earth, the first ever solar-powered touchscreen phone, inspired the first challenge. Called “Get a charge from the sun!” it tasked users with creating the world’s first solar-powered alphabet. Users used their own shadows to create letters, which they captured and uploaded to our site with their mobile phone. They then used the Shadow Alphabet to compose messages (using the letters they created and those of others). The campaign consisted of a global site, Facebook page, YouTube videos, blogger outreach and a banner campaign. The Wow Challenge benefited two global charities: Architecture for Humanity and The Nature Conservancy. Ze Frank [zefrank.com] host of the campaign is a renaissance man for the digital era, a blogger, musician, humorist, public speaker, performance artist and adjunct professor. Not to mention he once studied neuroscience. He is a winner of a Webby Award for Best Personal Website, where he created a variety of alphabets ranging from uniquely personal to mesmerizing. AWARDS:
